Black Bull remained top after a crucial 2-1 defeat of well-placed Dalton.

Dalton now share joint second spot with Field Head and Queen, but have two games in hand on leaders Bull, although they are now six points behind the leaders.

For all their pressure in the first half Bull only had one goal to show for it, a tap in for Gill from a corner.

In the second half Bull continued to press, but Dalton a goal back with 10 minutes to go from a long range shot from Bradley Ramsden-Reilly.

But Bull were awarded a penalty minutes later, which was converted by Denton and they held on for. victory.

Wellington A have three games in hand on Bull and are only seven points behind the Shepley outfit, so they would overtake the leaders if they win those games.

Wellington beat Helion Albion 6-3 at Almondbury Rec, with Anthony Haigh(2), Paul Pyke, Eddie Hamlet, Lee Bradshaw and Graham McLachlan scoring for Welly, with Whyte, Robbinson and Bain on target for Helion.

Queen continued their good run with a 2-1 win against Lockwood Private Hire Trophy finalists Inter Athletic.

Kieron Lawrence and Dean Wharam did the damage for the victors.

Walkers Hounds beat lowly Almondbury Woolpack 2-0 at Golcar, with Israel and Jones scoring for Walkers.

Woolpack are hopeful they will be turning the corner soon, especially with the final of the Lockwood Private Hire Trophy against Inter Athletic looming on the April 20.

The semi-finals of the Get Smart Group Challenge Cup will be staged tomorrow, with Wellington A against Black Bull at Leeds Road and the other semi between Dalton and Field Head will be taking place at Standiforth Rec.
