Top promoter Eddie Hearn wants Huddersfield boxer Tyrone Nurse to underline his credentials when he fights Dave Ryan for the Commonwealth light-welterweight title in Leeds tonight.

The 24-year-old knows success will seal a shot at the British title.

And Matchroom’s Hearn said: “Tyrone is the most underrated fighter in the UK – he is good.

“Stylistically Tyrone is difficult to beat, he is technically strong and has a good chin, therefore against an opponent like Dave Ryan, he can really express himself.

“There will be more pressure on Tyrone than ever before and this could prove to be his chance to break out as he will need to make a statement,.

“He is an exciting fighter and will provide high entertainment for the viewers in attendance at the First Direct Arena, where the atmosphere is always fantastic.”

Asked whether Matchroom will consider signing Nurse, Hearn said: “We virtually are already promoting Tyrone, he has huge support and a good result may put him on our cards.”
