RASTRICK have been rewarded for their giant-killing exploits with another home draw against top-flight opposition in the arrowselfdrive Sykes Cup quarter-finals.

Having ousted Skelmanthorpe and then Thurstonland, Ollie Pearson’s Cedar Court Conference leaders will host Moorlands at Round Hill on Sunday, June 14.

Meltham, who were shock winners against Drakes Premiership Shepley in the second round, are also at home.

They will take on league leaders Scholes – who knocked out holders Hoylandswaine – for a place in the last four of the famous old knockout competition.

The other two quarter-final ties are all-Premiership affairs.

Greg Wadsworth’s Shelley are at home to Barkisland while Golcar – finalists last year and at home for the seventh time on the trot in the rounds – will take on in-form Kirkburton at Swallow Lane.

There’s a cracking tie in the Fired Up Paddock Shield for second XIs as Barkisland play host to Skelmanthorpe.

Top-flight Honley and Scholes travel to Cedar Court Conference Two clubs in Thongsbridge and Birkby Rose Hill respectively.

Almondbury play host to Cawthorne in the other Shield tie.

Sykes Cup third round: Meltham v Scholes, Shelley v Barkisland, Rastrick v Moorlands, Golcar v Kirkburton.

Fired Up Paddock Shield: Almondbury v Cawthorne, Birkby Rose Hill v Scholes, Thongsbridge v Honley, Barkisland v Skelmanthorpe.

Yorkshire head coach Jason Gillespie is to have talks with Andrew Strauss about taking over the England team for this summer’s Ashes.

The governing body issued no comment yesterday - the eve of the first Investec Test against New Zealand at Lord’s - in response to reports that ECB cricket director Strauss has spoken to Gillespie and further talks are in the offing over the next 24 hours.

England are in the hands of caretaker coach Paul Farbrace for the two-Test series against the Black Caps.
