The Colne Valley Bowling Association have entered a team in The Federation of Crown Green Bowls.

The format of the competition is similar to Yorkshire County matches with a 12-man home team and a 12-man away team, with the exception of the scoring system which awards points for

individual wins as well as venue aggregates and overall aggregate.

Promotion and relegation also feature in The Federation, which currently has seven divisions.

The Colne Valley – sponsored by Total Hand Car Wash and Valeting Service of Waterloo – have been placed in Division Five along with East Lancs, Menai (Anglesey), Wallasey and Preston A.

The opening fixture against East Lancs is on Sunday, with Longwood BC the home venue and the away team at Darwin BC.

The second match against Menai is on Sunday May 18, when the home venue is Moldgreen Con.

For the first match, practice at each venue is 1.15pm to 1.30 for the home team and 1.35 to 1.50 for the away team, before a 2pm start.
