The Colne Valley Bowling Association Federation team, sponsored by Total Hand Car Wash and Valeting Service of Waterloo, made a successful debut by beating 2004 Division 1 winners East Lancashire 22-10.
The home team which played at Longwood Bowling Club and captained by Richard Mozley of Slaithwaite C & BC laid the foundation for a good win by registering 11 winners out of a possible 12.
The trio of John Metcalfe (Moldgreen Con), Terry Brook (Crosland Moor) and Dan Beeby (Golcar Liberal) all beat their opponents to single figures.
The away team which played in Darwin put up a spirited performance to record five wins and restrict their opponents to a narrow nine-point aggregate win, thus enabling the Colne Valley team to claim the four points available for overall aggregate score (431-361).
Andrew Cairns of Linthwaite Hall (21-2) was the pick of the away team winners, closely followed by Roger Crowther of Longwood Bowling Club (21-6) and Andrew Heaume of Canalside (21-8).
The next match against Menai is on Sunday May 18 when the home venue is scheduled to be Moldgreen Con.
