A sparkling knock of 147 by Matthew Henshaw was not enough to save his side Almondbury Wesleyans from relegation on a rain-hit final day of the Drakes League season.

The Wesleyans needed to beat Lascelles Hall and then hope Kirkheaton slipped up against Almondbury if they were to survive in the Jedi Sports Championship.

But while the Wes posted a cracking 257-8 before bowling out Lascelles Hall for 135, Kirkheaton scored a six-wicket win at home to Almondbury to ensure safety for themselves.

Saqib Matlub backed up Henshaw’s ton with a half century, while Henshaw then picked up three for 27 as the Hall got nowhere near.

Kirkheaton restricted Almondbury to 115-7, with Sean Mason taking five for 33, before knocking them off with four down.

Armitage Bridge celebrated their promotion with a nine-wicket win at home against Holmfirth.

The visitors reached 166-7 thanks to an unbeaten 46 from Max Gummerson, but the Bridge romped to victory at 167-1 with Matthew West finishing 82 not out and Jaycob Curtling 55 not out.

Jack Moulson hit 97 not out at No6 as Meltham posted 218-6 in their 56-run win over Linthwaite at Manchester Road.

Jack Hinchliffe had 37 not out at No8 before Ibrar Hussain did the damage with the ball, taking three for 34 as Linthwaite were sent back for 162, Kashif Ijaz getting 57.

There was no play at Cawthorne or Thongsbridge in the Championship, and likewise at Barkisland, Kirkburton and Shepley in the Premiership.

There was a hat trick, however, for Wasim Qasim of Delph & Dobcross in their rain-rule win at Skelmanthorpe.

He trapped Bjorn Taylor, Kris Whittaker and Tuseif Arshad, all clean bowled, in his haul of 6-30 as Skelmanthorpe were bowled out for 102.

Arron Lilley then hit 68 not out as Delph reached a revised target at 97-1 to claim all six points.

Chris Lloyd claimed four for 34 on his farewell appearance for Moorlands to help them to a 53-run win over Shelley – reward for a lot of hard work to get the field dried out before they could start.

Moorlands totalled 155-9 with David Winn and Michael Padgett in the 30s, non-EU Player of the Year Sash Naidoo and Ibrar Younas claiming three wickets apiece.

Padgett then backed up Lloyd’s effort to take five for 14 as Shelley were all out for 102.

Simon Kelly hit 74 not out as Honley cruised to a nine-wicket win over Elland at Far End Lane.

Alec Jakeman took four for 24 and Aussie Aaron Crispe three for five as Elland were skittled for 102, Niall Lockley hitting 35.

Kelly’s effort made sure it was no problem for Honley to get home.

Only eight overs were possible at Haigh Lane, where Scholes reached 77-0 with Tom Chadwick 44 not out, just seven short of his 1,000 runs for the season at the top of the order for the champions.

There was no play at all in the Cedar Court Conference.
