Chris Lloyd of Moorlands is the Drakes League’s non-EU Player of the Year.

The 25-year-old all-rounder from the Wynnum Manly club in Brisbane is the leading wicket-taker in the entire league and has also rattled up over 600 league and cup runs.

He was chosen by the Drakes League Executive for the award after helping Moorlands clinch the Cedar Court Conference title in their first season in Huddersfield after moving from the Central Yorkshire League.

“His all-round contribution to the Moorlands cause and his part in their success was felt to be outstanding,” said league executive secretary Stephen Sykes.

“Chris Lloyd is the leading wicket-taker in the league and is among the top batsmen, too, and we thought he stood out in this category.”

The Australian is expected to return next season to the Memorial Park in Mirfield for a shot at the Frank Platt Championship.

Lorenzo Ingram, then of Elland and now at Barkisland, won the non-EU award last season.

Former Indian Test star Wasim Jaffer is the only man to win the award more than once, and he has been given it three times (twice with Scholes and once with Skelmanthorpe).
