Fines totalling £471 were handed out to Drakes League clubs at last night’s monthly meeting.

Slow over rates resulted in just over half that sum – £237 – being handed out in punishments for breaking the three -our rule.

The biggest single fine was incurred by Skelmanthorpe’s first team in the Drakes Premiership.

They have to pay £44 for being just two overs beyond the three-hour limit – but because it’s their fourth offence the £11 standard fine (a set £5 plus £3 for each over) is quadrupled.

Slaithwaite first team were punished £34 for their second offence of the season, but they were four overs beyond the limit in their home clash with Clayton West last month in the Frank Platt Championship.

Hall Bower, Armitage Bridge, Almondbury Wesleyans (twice, costing £40), Clayton West and Delph have each been fined £20 for not registering youngsters correctly for second XI matches – results were also reversed for all those games in league and cup.

Clubs were reminded that the first semi-finals of the arrowselfdrive Sykes Cup and Fired Up Paddock Shield will be played this Sunday.

Shepley host Kirkburton at Marsh Lane in the Sykes Cup while Burton are also in the Paddock Shield last four, hosting Broad Oak at Riley Lane (all 1pm).
