All attention is on the Sykes Cup final this weekend, but don’t take your eyes off Saturday’s league programme in the Jedi Sports Championship.

There is a massive match in prospect between leading duo Broad Oak and Moorlands up the Colne Valley (1.30).

The Oak lead the table by nine points and Lee Baxter’s men could take a massive step back towards the Drakes League Premiership with a victory.

Moorlands, meanwhile, will be keen to bounce back from their surprise defeat to Linthwaite and emulate their win on Oak turf in the allroundercricket.com T20 Shield final against Almondbury Wesleyans a couple of weeks ago.

With talent like Baxter, Johnny Greaves, Ryan and Jack Wadsworth, Tom McCreadie and in-form Aussie Jarryd Vernon on view for the Oak, among others, while Moorlands have Aussie Chris Lloyd, prolific opening bat Andrew Fortis, Louis Aspeling, Michael Rounding and skipper Andrew Walker to call on, it promises to be a cracking clash.

Should Moorlands miss out, Thongsbridge will hope to pounce and possibly regain a place in the top-two promotion slots – they are five points behind the Mirfield side – by increasing Emley’s problems at the bottom.

In the Cedar Court Conference, leaders Kirkheaton can parade the Oddfellows Cup as they bid to extend an eight-point lead over Almondbury.

Cartworth Moor are the visitors to Bankfield Lane, while Almondbury are at home to second-bottom Upperthong.
