OFFICIALS of the Huddersfield Central Cricket League are hoping for a bumper turnout in March, for what will be the League’s Centenary Dinner.
The arrowselfdrive.com-backed League are hoping member clubs, both current and past, will join them at the Cedar Court Hotel, Ainley Top, on Friday, March 1, for their annual dinner and presentation evening, when Leicestershire and former England wicketkeeper Paul Nixon is the guest speaker.
It has been a difficult couple of years for the Central League, having lost a number of clubs to the Drakes League in the last 24 months, Cawthorne having been followed by Cumberworth, while Almondbury Wesleyans, Denby and Denby Dale have all moved across for the 2013 season.
“As this year is our Centenary Dinner, we wanted to make it a little bit special and extend an invitation to members from all our previous clubs as well as our existing clubs,” said League president Jack Carson.
Along with Nixon, the other entertainers lined up for this year’s dinner include the very popular local comedian Lea Roberts, and the incomparable compere Malcolm Lord.
Tickets are £30 a head for a three-course meal and coffee, and anyone interested in helping the League celebrate their Centenary should contact Carson on 01924 405512.
