BOWLERS in the arrowselfdrive Central League took centre stage as wickets throughout the League began to soften up making runs harder to come by.

Indeed, there was only one century scored across all sections, and that came from David Garner, who made an unbeaten 105 for Woolley’s B team in a Section C clash with Upper Hopton B who were then shot out for just 47.

Elsewhere, it was a story of low scores, particularly at Woolley, where the A team were blown away for 49, Josh Moorhouse taking five for 8 for Woodfield Park, who themselves lost five wickets in reaching 50.

Premier leaders Almondbury Wesleyans made just short of 200 before rolling Nortonthorpe over for 745, Oliver Shaw taking four for 8 and David Hales four for 13, while Azaad were one of the teams to run a decent total as they beat Holmbridge by 120 runs after Hanif Mahboob scored an unbeaten 57 in their 252-8 tally.

Nazaqat Hussain claimed four for 27 to keep his side in touch with the League-leaders, but they are now the only team who are.

Cumberworth took all six points after bowling out Thornhill & Westborough for 65, but are now 13 points behind the leaders.

Six wickets for Mohammad Izhar wrecked Cartworth Moor’s hopes for just 73 after Birkby Rose Hill had made 154, Faisal Javed top-scoring with 54, while Dean Dyson’s seven for 34 for Leymoor was day’s best figures in the win over Mirfield.
