HUDDERSFIELD Under 13s overcame a tricky test to beat North Yorkshire by three wickets and reach the semi-finals of the Lord’s Taverners tournament.

On a testing track at Recar, Huddersfield dismissed North Yorkshire for 70, Nathan Jones taking two for five and Tom Mighall claiming the prize wicket of Luke Henderson, who had scored 79no for Durham the previous day and 129no for North Yorks the day before.

On an indifferent slow wicket, both teams found runs hard to come by.

In reply Huddersfield found it just as hard to pierce the field and it took until the 19th over for them to score their first four and, at one stage, they had slumped to 32-6 after 24 overs.

A sensible knock of 18 by Alex Crane helped the score along and the target was reached in the 32nd over through Bilal Ouness and Tom Mighall.

North Yorks 70 (J Goddard 2-3, N Jones 2-5, S Senior 2-14, T Mighall 2-15) Huddersfield 71-7 (A Crane 18, Extras 18, C Whitelock 3-10).
