HUDDERSFIELD’S Joe  Lumb Cup hopes ended  dismally when they  crashed to a nine wicket  defeat against the North  Yorkshire & South  Durham side.

Sent in to bat first,  Huddersfield fell to  Durham Academy  bowler Harper who  knocked over the top  three, while Weighell  scooped another three  as Huddersfield  crashed to 20-6 in only  seven overs.

Only Alex Walker (14)  and Jonny Hoyle (17)  put up any resistance  moving the score from  16-6 to 39-7 before  Walker holed out, as the  visitors were out for 58.

Huddersfield will now  play in the third-fourth  place play-off for the  Jack Lees Trophy  against the Barnsley  League at Lascelles  Hall on Sunday,  September 4 (1.00).

The Earnshaw Cup  final between Hall  Bower and Linthwaite  will also be played on  Sunday, September 4  (Noon) as both sides  were encountering  problems with playing  on the re-scheduled  date of August 28.

The Oddfellows Cup  final between Clayton  West and Thongsbridge  is unaffected and will be  played on the 28th.
