Darren Lockwood was in superb form to keep Hoylandswaine in the hunt for the Drakes Premiership Two title.

The experienced all-rounder hit an unbeaten 82 against Armitage Bridge as Swaine launched the top-flight double-header with five points at Haigh Lane.

His effort, which also included a four for 33 haul, helped Swaine overhaul the visitors total of 199-7 with just two wickets down – Jack Lockwood weighing in with 74.

Then, in the home clash with Broad Oak, Lockwood snr hit 115 and Scott Marsh 68 as Swaine knocked off a massive Oak total of 302-7 to record a four wicket win.

The Oak had been indebted to fine centuries from Stephen Rushworth (120) and Ryan Wadsworth (108) in putting up better than a run a ball.

Those two excellent wins were enough to keep Swaine five points behind Kirkburton with four matches to play (it’s another double-header for Premiership clubs this weekend).

Kirkburton defied the rain on Saturday to take five points off Holmfirth, George Smith’s three for 20 helping peg Holmfirth to 92-7 in reply to Burton’s 168-6.

On Sunday, David Greaves hit 82 as Burton proved far too strong for Cawthorne, who were skittled for 57 in reply to 245-7 – Robert Kettlewell taking six for 31.

Delph & Dobcross put themselves in with a chance of the Frank Platt Two title with a six-point win over Shelley while no-one else was able to complete.

And in the Cedar Court Conference Two, Moorlands have joined Thongsbridge at the top after dismissing Denby for just 15 in the only match completed – Daniel Pauley taking four for eight.
