The opening-day programme of the Drakes Huddersfield Cricket League has been postponed.

Grounds are already very wet, and with more rain – and even possibly snow – forecast for the next few days, all Saturday’s matches have been called off.

There will be no play in the Drakes Premiership, Jedi Sports Championship or Cedar Court Conference, but the League Executive will reschedule the fixtures on a summer date yet to be decided.

In addition, the Preliminary Round of the All Rounder Cricket Sykes Cup, which was due to be played on Sunday, has been put back to the following Sunday, April 24.

This Sunday, April 17, there are still scheduled fixtures in the Heavy Woollen Cup for Drakes League clubs.

They include: Cawthorne v Wrenthorpe, Scholes v Barkisland, Methley v Slaithwaite, Hoylandswaine v Shelley, Moorlands v Gomersal, Shepley v Woodlands, Morley v Skelmanthorpe, Delph v Hanging Heaton.
