Drakes Huddersfield League player Arron Lilley has been handed a new contract by Lancashire.

The 24-year-old all-rounder – who has helped the Red Rose county into the T20 Blast finals day with some stunning catches – has been tied to Old Trafford for an unspecified length of time.

The Delph & Dobcross captain has been one of the leading players in the Drakes Premiership for several seasons while pressing his claims with Lancashire.

This season, when available, he has helped guide Delph to fourth place in the table and they could go past Shepley into third.

Lilley has played seven first-class matches so far and took six wickets against Glamorgan in his latest County Championship appearance, to take his overall tally to 25.

He has played 31 times in T20 games, however, and featured in 10 one-day domestic games.

Also handed a deal is batsman Liam Livingstone.

The 22-year-old, who made his debut for the Red Rose earlier in the summer, suffered facial injuries after allegedly being glassed in a bar brawl in Kent a week last Saturday night.

Livingstone had earlier in the day featured in Lancashire’s win over the county in the NatWest T20 Blast but has not played since.

In total, he has made 14 appearances in the shortest format while he made a positive impact in his only Royal London One-Day Cup appearance to date with a counter-attacking 91 in another victory over Kent.

All-rounder Jordan Clark, 24, is a third player to be contracted at Old Trafford.

Lancashire cricket director and head coach Ashley Giles said:

“Arron, Liam and Jordan very much represent the next generation for LCCC and I’m delighted that we have been able to secure their immediate futures.”
