Roger Peaker is the new vice-chairman of Yorkshire’s Joe Lumb Cup and Lord’s Taverners committee.

The 68-year-old from Meltham Cricket Club has been given the honour in recognition of his services to junior cricket in both competitions.

He will work alongside Festival chairman Derek Gregersen and will continue his involvement with Huddersfield’s Joe Lumb Cup team, which now stretches to 14 years.

“I will still be working with coach Stuart Fletcher and the Huddersfield team, but when we haven’t got a game I’ll obviously be on duty at other matches,” said Peaker, whose son Jonathan (also Meltham) was once Joe Lumb captain.

“It’s something I enjoy and I’m looking forward being involved next year.”

Peaker is on the Drakes League executive as child welfare, trophies and facilities officer and fulfils similar duties with the Sellers Huddersfield Junior League.
