Barkisland up against Hanging Heaton in Cup

BARKISLAND will face Hanging Heaton in the quarter-finals of the Heavy Woollen Cup a week tomorrow.The Drakes Premiership side had to wait for the outcome of the second-round tie between Liversedge and Hanging Heaton, which the visitors won.Hanging Heaton got 284-9 with David Stiff scoring 100, while Liversedge were all out for 104, Jamie Baulk taking four for 39 and Mark Lawson three for 27.Also through to the last eight from the Drakes top flight are Skelmanthorpe, who host Wakefield Thornes, and Scholes, who travel to New Farnley. The other tie is Townville v Birstall.

Swaine land a big knockout blow

WELL done to Hoylandswaine for their fine 56-run win over powerful Wrenthorpe in the Black Sheep Yorkshire Champions Trophy.The Drakes Champions posted 330-7 against last year’s beaten finalists, Alex Morris hitting 96, Jon Sadler 57, Bandula Don 42, Amar Rashid 41 and Ryan Robinson 41, while Greig Batty took three for 49.Home side Wrenthorpe were held at 274-9 in reply, Bradley Parker making 76, Joe Ellis 37 and Richard Vigers 36. Bandula Don was the best of the Swaine bowlers with three for 26.
