SP Singh is on his way to Hoylandswaine.

The talented all-rounder spent last season at Holmfirth but will play the 2014 Drakes Premiership campaign with the Black Sheep Yorkshire champions.

His arrival at Haigh Lane will do much to cover the loss of Amar Rashid, who has been released, and will provide plenty of options for new captain Michael Cranmer.

The Adelaide-based all-rounder will mark his fourth year as a Hoylandswaine player by replacing John Sadler as skipper.

Sadler – who led the club to the Black Sheep, arrowselfdrive Sykes Cup and allroundercricket T20 Trophy titles last season – has gone back to his roots by joining Ossett.

Cranmer’s appointment as captain will be widely welcomed by the Haigh Lane faithful, especially as he would be viewed as perhaps the only candidate who might fill the large boots previously occupied by Sadler.

Previously a member of the South Australia set-up, Cranmer has the cricketing knowledge and ability to step up to the mark and his impact with bat and ball makes him a matchwinner already.

Starting last season late, after Swaine had suffered a disastrous string of defeats, Cranmer weighed in with 49 league and cup wickets at just 14.86 and also turned a number of matches with his late-order hitting.

Meanwhile, while there had been talk at the end of last season about Bandula Don and Ben Potter possibly moving on, it appears they are staying at Swaine.
