YCB officials were delighted with the ground, facilities and hospitality at Honley as Yorkshire Under 19s retained the Sanderson Cup against Lancashire.

Home club duo Eddie Wilson and Tim Taylor were in the White Rose line-up along with Scholes’ Tommy Boorman and Elland’s Jack Hendy (who was injured while batting) and they effectively won the match on first innings.

Wilson scored 76 in Yorkshire’s opening-day 206 – they had been 18-3 with Taylor and Boorman back in the pavilion – while Lancashire were bowled out for 177 in their first innings.

Yorkshire were 155-5 – Wilson 46 – when the captain’s shook hands, Lewis Stabler from Richmond being named man of the match for his five for 35 haul.

Officials from Lancashire joined their Roses counterparts in thanking groundsman Peter Green and staff at Honley for their excellent staging of the match.
