AT the time of writing, the forecast for tomorrow is expected to be ‘mainly dry with sunny intervals’ according to the BBC. Of course, that remains to be seen!

But what is certain is there will be countless numbers of crossed fingers as lunchtime approaches with so many important games, and so many implications at stake.

Delph & Dobcross will once again try and entertain Skelmanthorpe in the second semi-final of the Sykes Cup, but at least if there is a repeat of last Sunday’s downpour and they don’t make a start, or don’t complete 10 overs, they do have a final contingency of being able to play on Sunday week (July 29).

That, of course, would impact on the inaugural Examiner Twenty20 Trophy final which has been earmarked for that day, but which can be put back a week to Sunday, August 5 – providing the Huddersfield Under 21 side have not reached the final of the Heron White Rose Trophy.

They tackle the Aire/Wharfe League at Lascelles Hall tomorrow having been washed out last Sunday.

If manager Norman Clee’s team can best Howard Clayton’s outfit, then the final will be on Sunday, August 5.

If that is the case, then the Twenty20 goes back to Bank Holiday Monday, in the expection that most people will be on holiday.

Spare a thought for Shelley and Meltham, however, as they could face the unpalatable prospect of evening play in the second of the Spectrum Interiors Paddock Shield semi-finals.

They only have one more chance to complete the game on a Sunday, with play having to go into Monday night, et al, should it fail to be completed in one go.

Shelley’s problem is that they are already down for action next Sunday when they visit Skelmanthorpe for the semi-final of the Crowther Cup.

And one of the Huddersfield sides is guaranteed a final spot which is scheduled for – Bank Holiday Monday!

Confused? – you will be, especially if it rains again tomorrow.

Rumour has it, the Drakes League Executive are planning a ‘Sun’ dance this weekend!
