GREENHEAD Park is once again the venue for the Huddersfield Jubilee Cricket Festival on Sunday, April 21.

Hosted by the park and Kirklees Council in conjunction with Paddock C & BC and Paddock Sports Network, the event is aimed at promoting the game at junior level.

It aims to provide schools and clubs with a pre-season warm-up and is open to youngsters of all abilities from 11 upwards.

As one of Paddock’s outreach events, it also gives clubs the opportunity to recruit juniors via schools.

Up to 16 six-strong teams can take part, with matches lasting 20 minutes (each player must bat and bowl for at least one over).

Yorkshire all-rounder Richard Pyrah and England women’s player Katherine Brunt are supporting this year’s Drax Cup, the country’s biggest competition for Under 9s.

Run in conjunction with Yorkshire CCC and power station operators Drax, the four teams who reach the finals will play at Headingley prior to Yorkshire Carnegie taking on Leicestershire Foxes in the Friends Life T20 tournament on Tuesday, July 9.
