There was just one match that could not be played in the Huddersfield Junior Cricket League’s Under 13 section at unlucky Marsden, where the rain came down really heavy.

Unfortunately, we are now into the time of the year when school trips cause problems and Holmbridge were the first to suffer and could not raise a team and had to concede their game at Barkisland.

Honley continue to set the pace in Area A with another victory over Skelmanthorpe after another good batting performance with Ewan West, Owen Kenworthy and Charlie Jakeman all retiring with the bat and then Luke Williams taking three wickets with the ball. Aaron Moore was the only batter to retire for the home team.

The top of the table clash in Area B was a local derby between Lepton and Emley and ended up as a thriller going down to the last ball with the home team Lepton just coming out on top by 2 runs. Jamie Walker retired with the bat for Lepton and Adam Priest did the same for Emley.

There were first wins of the season for Skelmanthorpe B in Area B and Kirkheaton in Area C. Lascelles Hall batted first against Kirkheaton and posted a reasonable total of 90 with Matthew Kershaw leading the batters contribution but Nathan Goddard and Joe Donaghy made solid scores to enable the home team to pass the score with two overs left.

The other two Examiner Salver finalists are now known with Barkisland and Golcar winning their games to make the finals day in a fortnights time. League matches on that day involving the four finalists have to be rearranged and played before the end of July.
