Ibrar Latif was in sparkling form again to book Kirkburton’s place in the knockout stages of the allroundercricket.com T20 Trophy.

Torturing his former club Scholes for the second time this season – he hit a double hundred against them in the Heavy Woollen Cup – Latif smashed 91 not out to steer his side past a Chapelgate target of 194-4.

Latif faced only 27 deliveries for his 50 and had hit 11 fours and five sixes by the time Burton crossed the line in the 19th over with Johnny Butterfield 45 not out (four fours and two sixes).

Earlier excellent bowling from Tom Burkinshaw (two for 15) and Usman Malvi (two for 31) had had Scholes in trouble but they were rescued by an excellent partnership from overseas signing Pete Drysdale and skipper Tom Brook.

Brook hit 10 fours and six sixes in a terrific 102, his century coming off only 61 deliveries, while Drysdale was out for 72, which included three sixes and seven other boundaries.

Another century maker was Abdul Wahid of Slaithwaite, who blasted 102 to set up their victory against Marsden at Hill Top.

Lewis Bradley hit 26 and Alex Walker 2 not out as Slaithwaite put up 189-5.

Harrison Quarmby then took a terrific three for 18 in three overs to rip out the Marsden middle order after Walker, with two wickets, Nathan Freitag and Dave Berry had pounced.

Kiwi Graeme Tryon top scored for Marsden with 60, but they closed on 146-9.

Niall Lockley warmed up for the Premiership double-header this weekend by hammering 112 for Golcar in their home win against Elland.

His century, backed up by 47 not out from Steve Whitwam and 30 from Jake Lockwood, took Golcar to 231-3 in their 20 overs.

Jack Hargreaves then got to work with the ball, taking three for 28 as Elland were held at 165-5,  Greg Finn hitting 50, Fahid Rehman 34 and Alex Rowles a fine 53 not out.
