LIAM SENIOR was the outstanding star for Elland as they defeated Green Moor in the Sellers Huddersfield Junior League Under 13s.

He top scored in their innings of 145-7 with 29 and then proceeded to run through the Green Moor batting, registering the remarkable figures of five wickets for one run as they were dismissed for 15.

Another terrific display was by Tom Parry, who scored 25 and then took three for eight for Kirkheaton in their close win over Skelmanthorpe.

Kirkheaton totalled 101-3 while Skelmanthorpe had 94-8.

There was a close and exciting game at Holmfirth, where the home team won off the last ball with Louise Adams hitting a six for victory over Meltham.

Cameron McGrath retired for Meltham and James Sunderland took four wickets in their total of 98-5, but Holmfirth were pulled through by a steady knock of 25 from Niall Hubbard and the attacking finish to close on 99-5.

At Upperthong, their B team just came out on top against Holmbridge with the winning run coming off the next to the last ball.

Ben Mighall of Upperthong had to retire after hitting the third ball of the last over for four, which left the new Under 9 batter to scramble a short run for the win.

In the preliminary round of the Cup there was a win for Delph, while the outstanding tie between Rastrick and Cumberworth is still to be played due to weather problems.

The demise of Elland B in Area B means one team in that section will have an open date each week. Broad Oak will have to play Golcar in an extra game to balance out the fixtures.
