Makbul Patel hammered a fantastic 166 as Mount completed a double by lifting the CopyMark Tinker Cup.

Just two weeks after their first team took the Allsop Cup for the first time, the Second XI scored a 201-run victory over Leymoor at Flockton in the arrowselfdrive Huddersfield Central League’s second-team showpiece.

Patel’s wonderful knock earned him the man-of-the-match award as Mount piled up 304-7 in their 45 overs to put the match pretty much out of reach for their Colne Valley opponents.

Opener Nazir Patel chipped in with 57 for the Batley-based side, with Abdul Aziz Ravat adding 12 and Amjad Hussain 24 not out.

Jack Roberts was the best of the Leymoor bowlers with three for 77 from 12 overs, while Lewis Maynard picked up two for 44 from his seven.

In reply, only Robert Henson got going for Leymoor, hitting 53 but being the only man to make double figures as they were bowled out for 103 in 41.3 overs.

All seven of Mount’s bowlers claimed wickets, with Bashir Ahmed Sidat, Siraj Patel and Suleman Rawat all taking two apiece.

Mount’s first team clattered 400-4 declared in their victory over Higham (166 all out) in the Premier Section, with opener Jabir Patel hitting 129 and Usama Sacha 136, but it was still not enough for them to overtake Heckmondwike & Carlinghow at the top of the standings.

Imran Shabbir Patel also had 53 not out in the massive Mount total, off 43.5 overs, while Ibrahim Badat and Imran Shabbir Patel took three-wickets apiece as 10-man Higham were bowled out in 31.4 overs trying to have a go.

Mount closed by one point on leaders Heck & Carl, who picked up 19 from their 116-run win at Edgerton & Dalton.

Opener Matthew Crowther hit 80, Paul Cooper 88 and Usman Ali Qureshi 75 not out as Heck & Carl totalled 321-4 in their 45 overs.

Javed Iqbal was then the best of the visiting bowlers with four for 40 from 12 as Edgerton & Dalton were held at 205-9 in reply, Mohammed Slahuddin top scoring with 44 not out.
