Mount are celebrating a first ever Allsop Cup win.

The Batley club defeated Heckmondwike & Carlinghow by 16 runs in a cracking CopyMark-sponsored final at Birchencliffe, with Usama Sacha getting the man-of-the-match award for his sparkling 86.

That knock was the backbone of Mount’s 193-8 total in their 45 overs, achieved despite a fine six for 55 haul in 12 from Javed Iqbal.

Yusuf Kayat opened the Mount innings with 32, but they initially struggled for anyone to stay with Sacha after a delayed start due to rain.

Javid Suleman Patel hit 22 at No6 and, down the order Riyaz Motala (10) and Ibrahim Badat (18 not out) provided vital runs.

Adam Holt bowled nicely for Heck & Carl, picking up one for 32 from his 10 overs, while Chris Allen was the other wicket-taker, returning one for 40 from nine.

Paul Cooper was a steadying influence at the top of the Heck & Carl reply and top scored with 57, but they, too, lost some early wickets and it needed 15 from Allen and 42 from Holt in the middle order to push them on.

Iqbal also hit 20 to keep alive hopes of chasing down the total, but when the last wicket fell – Adnaan Rawat stumped by Imran Rawat off Mohsin Contractor – Jonathan Elstub was left high and dry on 15 not out and the scoreboard showing 177.

Imran Shabbir Patel did the bulk of the damage for Mount with four for 35 from his 11 overs, while Badat bowled splendidly to claim three for 40 from nine.

Juned Delair kept it tight with one for 25 from nine, while Contractor finished with one for 42 from 9.1.

It was a terrific win for Mount, who trail Heck & Carl by 16 points in the Premier Section table, and they will be hoping their Second XI can make it a double when they take on Leymoor in the CopyMark Tinker Cup final on Sunday at Flockton (1.30).

Umpires Phil Battye (Edgerton & Dalton) and Brian Cooper (Heck & Carl) have charge of the showpiece, where admission is £2, with £1 concessions.

Leymoor go through with a concession from Nortonthorpe in the first round, and then beating Netherton by eight wickets in the quarter-finals and Flockton by three wickets in the semis – Andy Raw the man in form with the bat on both occasions and skipper Daniel Roberts hitting a half-century in the last-eight game.

Mount had a crushing win over Heck & Carl in the first round thanks to a fine century from Inram Kayat, while Green Moor were beaten by five wickets in the quarter-finals and Holmbridge by 10 wickets in the semis.
