Paddock are hoping to attract big support for their Party on the Pitch at West View Rise this Sunday.

The club are struggling for cash but desperate to fund junior development so they can continue to compete in the Drakes League’s Cedar Court Conference.

Sunday’s fun events for all the family start at 11am, when there are live bands, Bhangra dancing and food stalls for the adults, plus kids entertainment including inflatable penalty shoot-out, face painting, a bouncy castle, mini train and donkey rides.

Paddock secretary and first-team captain Mohammed Jahandad confirmed: “We have found it a struggle this season, but we are planning ahead and hopefully everything is now going in the right direction.

“We have got everything in hand to do work on the square at the end of the season ready for next year – Geoff Heywood of Hall Bower has been helping us out – and we already have some good young lads coming through.

“We are the only club this season to provide two players for the Huddersfield Under 15s in Siraj Sajid and Musa Ahmed, and we are determined to let these lads come through.

“The first team haven’t been doing that well, but we don’t have the finances to employ overseas players or bring in paid men – and money talks in the Drakes League these days.

“We are determined to use all the money we can raise on our junior section and on bringing through homegrown talent.

“Hopefully in the next two or three years that will see us doing better, because we want to move forward in the best way we can.”

Jahandad asked cricket supporters in Huddersfield to support Sunday’s event, when Town mascot Terry the Terrier will be present to meet youngsters.

“We would welcome as much support as possible for our Party on the Pitch, when all the proceeds will go towards helping our junior cricketers come through,” he added.
