Asif Hussain hit a sparkling unbeaten 204 as Kirkburton moved up the Drakes Premiership standings with six points against Shelley at Westerley Lane.

The 35-year-old Pakistani batsman – who has more than 4,000 first-class runs with Faisalabad and WPDA – hit five sixes in one over off Greg Wadsworth en route to a double ton off 165 balls as Burton piled up 315-2.

In only his second match for the club, Hussain went in after the fall of Andrew Smith’s wicket and quickly got going, reaching 50 off 76 balls in 94 minutes (one six and six fours) and going to his century off 119 deliveries, having added three more sixes and two more fours.

His 150 came off 148 balls (eight sixes and 11 fours) and he shared a big stand with Iqbal Khan, who finished with 81 off 125 balls in 161 minutes, with nine boundaries.

In reply, Shahban Raheem scored 50 before being bowled by Khan. His half century came off 55 balls in 49 mins and included four fours and a six.

Louis Brook was the hero for Scholes, hitting the winning boundary of a low-scoring thriller against Shepley to maintain the Chapelgate club’s 100% start.

Shepley were dismissed for 135 on a strip offering plenty to the bowlers – Tom Brook returning four for 35 on his first match back from Australia and brother Josh picking up three for 55.

Gary Bradley was the best of the Shepley batsmen with 36, but skipper Danny Glover led a spirited effort by his side with five for 48 and they only just failed to defend the total, Scholes scraping home with Brook (the youngest of the three brothers) and experienced wicketkeeper Richard Holmes in the middle at 136-9.

Aussie Tim Welsford picked up four for 63 for Golcar, but he was unable to prevent them slipping to a four wicket defeat against champions Hoylandswaine at Swallow Lane.

Dan Woodhead hit 30 for Golcar, but they could total only 92 as West Indian signing Kesrick Williams and Zafir Patel picked up three wickets apiece.

Young Nathan Jones guided Delph to a cracking home victory over Slaithwaite with an unbeaten 43.

His effort enabled Delph to record a six-wicket win when totalling 256-4 in reply to Slaithwaite’s 255-6 in which Shabir Rashid led the way with 81.

Barkisland won the Calderdale derby against Elland at Hullen Edge, Jamie Summerscales hitting 65 and Alex Kaye 62 as Barkisland overcame Elland’s 172-7 for the loss of just two wickets.

Siraj Sajid was Elland’s top scorer with an unbeaten 45 while Alex Scholefield returned four for 52 for the victors.

Honley notched their third straight win, beating Moorlands by five wickets in Mirfield.

Young Tommy Woodhead picked up four for 18, Sam Denton three for 21 and Australian spinner Aaron Crispe three for 48 as Moorlands were dismissed for 162.

Aussie Chris Lloyd responded with three for 48, but Honley eased home thanks to an unbeaten 55 from Tim Taylor and 37 from Simon Kelly.

Jonny Greaves fell four short of a ton for Broad Oak at home to Skelmanthorpe, who won by three wickets.

Greaves had 96 and Sven Burluraux 33 as the Oak totalled 212-4, but Bjorn Taylor led the chase with 60 and, with Jordan Greaves adding 33 and Irfan Amjad 36, Skelmanthorpe took home the six points.
