If Hoylandswaine are to be denied a Drakes League treble this season, then Elland and Kirkburton could have a big part to play.

The Haigh Lane side have already won the T20 Trophy and Sykes Cup and have a 12-point lead in the Drakes Premiership going into this weekend’s double header.

Elland are the visitors to Swaine on Saturday while Kirkburton host the leaders on Sunday (both 1pm).

Swaine are without skipper Michael Cranmer, who has returned to Australia to rest his injured right knee before the season starts in Adelaide, so they will be led for the rest of the campaign by experienced all-rounder Richard Wilkinson.

He was one of the key performers as Swaine retained the arrowselfdrive Sykes Cup against Golcar at Honley, taking one for 28 in his 10 overs, and he will be keen to steer Swaine to a second Byrom Shield success in three seasons.

With six games to go, too, Swaine will have their eyes on a strong finish to contend for the Hopkinson Trophy, for the team who pick up most points in the last six games.

That has already been under way in the lower sections for the last couple of weeks, as there are only four matches left to play in the Jedi Sports Championship and Cedar Court Conference.

There’s another crunch promotion fixture in the Championship on Saturday, with leaders Broad Oak having the chance to potentially secure promotion at home to Thongsbridge depending on other results.

Second-placed Moorlands are at home to Cawthorne while Marsden, three points adrift of them in third, travel to Lascelles Hall.

Kirkheaton, too, can potentially guarantee promotion as they visit bottom club Paddock in the Cedar Court while second-placed Almondbury – 13 points behind – are at home to Denby Dale while Cumberworth entertain Upperthong.
