Huddersfield Central League leaders Heckmondwike & Carlinghow hit 12 off the final over and winning runs off the penultimate ball to take victory in a spectacular CopyMark T20 Shield final.

The arrowselfdrive club defeated Edgerton & Dalton by three wickets after a frenetic run chase to hunt down 131-8, with Adam Cooper on 31 not out the hero at the end with fellow unbeaten colleague Imran Akhtar (2 not out).

While opener Matt Crowther made 27, the mainstay of the Heck & Carl innings was Usman Ali Qureshi with a fine 48, before Cooper took the scoring along to that dramatic last-over finish.

Asim Rafiq with two for 18 from four and Fakir Laher with two for 20 from three were the most successful Edgerton & Dalton bowlers and there were two run-outs.

Laher made 12 opening the batting for Edgerton & Dalton while fellow opener Ismail Hayat made a fine 36.

They then lost wickets before Asim Rafiq made an excellent 38 to take them to a challenging total, Jonathan Elstub taking three for 31 from his four overs and Adam Holt and Chris Allen taking a couple of wickets apiece.

In the CopyMark Plate Final for the losing semi-finalists on finals day, Almondburians defeated Green Moor by 36 runs after totalling 177-9 in their 20 overs.

Charles Taylor was the Almondburians hero with 60, although Sam Atkin got them off to a solid start with 31 and Luke Booth 16.

Nasir Sayed added 23 at No5 and Joe George 14, while the best of the Green Moor bowlers was Alex Schofield with three for 32 – Rotash Saini and Mark Elsworth taking two wickets each.

In reply, while the Green Moor batting was solid enough, the runs didn’t quite come quickly enough and, despite 43 from Saini, 24 from Jack Ridgewick and 43 from Liam Burkinshaw, they were held at 141-4.
