Thurstonland claimed their first Central League Premier Division title since 2001 with a last-day victory over closest rivals Mount.

Either side could have taken the crown in the showdown at Thurstonland’s Marsh Hall Lane ground, but the home side came out on top with a six-wicket win.

Mount batted first and were dismissed for just 68 runs.

Liam Booth proved their main tormentor as he tore apart the Mount batting line-up with figures of six for 17.

Mount gave themselves some hope as they took two early wickets as Thurstonland replied.

The home side looked to put on the pressure, but Mark Askham held his nerve and notched 27 not out and guided Thurstonland to victory on 71-4.
