TWENTY/20 semi-finalists Clayton West wore their newly-acquired coloured tops during the defeat to Scholes in midweek, to become the first club in the League to actually ‘own’ a coloured strip.

Holmfirth were the first team to wear one in their first round loss to Meltham, but apparently theirs was only ‘on loan’ from Romida Sports who have provided the smart black tops worn by the Clayton West side on Tuesday.

Clayton have actually bought theirs, thanks to generous funding from A Shotton (Joinery Contractors) Ltd, while Braithwaite Excavations have sponsored the club’s white strip this season.

Hopefully, more clubs will consider buying a set for next season’s competition, which was, after all, the original intention – some clubs could probably fund a set of coloured gear out of the cumulative fines they rack up every season!
