The top four in the Drakes Premiership all flexed muscles with victories while Clayton West won their top-two battle to go clear in the Jedi Sports Championship.

Delph also moved up the top-flight standings with a win at Shelley which featured three centuries in the match.

Andrew Gleave powered to 125 and Greg Buckley 114 as Delph roared to 355-4 with the help of 61 from skipper Arron Lilley.

Hasnat Yousaf then hit 111 for Shelley in reply but Martin Sykes was the next top scorer on 31 as they were dismissed for 255 – Delph moving above Kirkburton into sixth place in the table.

Kirkburton slipped when losing by 15 runs at home to Hoylandswaine.

Yasir Abbas was the man to do the business for Swaine, the former East Bierley man hitting 38 as the visitors to Riley Lane totalled 188.

Jonny Butterfield and skipper Andrew Smith each took three wickets, but Abbas trumped them by taking five for 55 as Swaine sent the home side back for 173.

Northern Districts batsman Joe Carter hit 74 to guide leaders Scholes to a seven-wicket win at Moorlands.

Opener Andrew Fortis included some big blows in his 68 and skipper Michael Rounding had 31, but Moorlands were restricted to 162 all out as Josh Brook claimed four for 56 and Tom Brook three for 31.

Tom Boorman (45) made sure Scholes made a solid reply and, with Carter punishing anything loose, the chase became pretty straightforward.

Honley were indebted to a fine 85 from Tim Taylor in reaching 242-4 at home to Slaithwaite.

Aussie Aaron Crispe weighed in with 52 not out after opener Tim Sykes had posted 40 to put the hosts in a strong position.

A Slaithwaite win never looked on the cards once Ritchie Howarth (three for 33) and young Tommy Woodhead (four for 22) got to work, and they were all out for 141.

Shepley responded to their shock Sykes Cup exit against Meltham by scoring a crushing home win against Broad Oak.

Tom Denton smacked 67 and Oli Davidson 61 not out as Shepley reached 270-6, with Aussie Christian Smith adding 54 down the order.

Kiwi Henry Cooper took three wickets for the Oak, but they were quickly in real trouble with the bat as Nasir Jamal took four for 19 and Danny Glover three for 27, and it took a knock of 45 not out to pull the Oak round to 143 all out.

Skelmanthorpe sprang away from the bottom placings with a two-wicket win against Barkisland at Woodfield.

New Zealander Tony Goodin and Tuseif Arshad each had four wickets as Barkisland were dismissed for 210, Darren Robinson leading the way with 56 and young Jake Finch getting 42 at No8 and Ben Westbrook 35 at No9.

Irfan Amjad was the hero for Skelmanthorpe in reply, holding his nerve after Jordan Greaves had gone for 32 to post 103 not out to lift his side to fifth from bottom of the table, despite the best efforts of Alex Scholefield and Chris Williams, who had three wickets apiece.

Golcar sent Elland to the bottom of the table with a convincing win at Hullen Edge.

Golcar’s 184 proved far too many for the hosts once Tim Welsford and Will Hinchliffe had the ball in hand. Aussie Welsford took four for 37 and Hinchliffe three for 28 to skittle Elland for just 69.

In the Championship, Kyle Hitchman from Wellington took five for 26 to send Clayton West clear with victory at Armitage Bridge.

The West totalled 181-9 with the help of a half century from Tom Barber, Carl Jump taking three wickets.

Armitage Bridge never got into the hunt as Hitchman struck in a decisive 14-over spell and Faheem Hussain was the best of the home batsman with 31.

Sam Scott starred for Lascelles Hall, taking five for 32 and then hitting 70 not out as they went to an eight-wicket win at Almondbury.

Rastrick continue to impress at the top of the Cedar Court Championship and picked up their latest six points against Denby.

Jacob Waterson hit 70 in Rastrick’s 208, while Bandula Don claimed four for 44 for the hosts, who were removed for 95 in reply, Jordan Ghani and Jack Pearson taking four wickets each.
