MICHAEL Vaughan, England's Ashes winning captain, has warned fans not to expect too much from his replacement Andrew Flintoff in the Ashes series.

With Vaughan still recovering from a knee injury, Flintoff will take charge of England on the field as they seek to win a series in Australia for the first time since 1987.

And Vaughan said: "Freddie is still a relatively inexperienced captain. People should not expect too much from him as a captain just because he is Freddie Flintoff.

"They can't expect him to get every decision right. He will make mistakes. If you fail to break their opening partnership or don't make a bowling or fielding change at the right time, it can damage your chances."

Vaughan added: "It will be down to Freddie.

"Duncan Fletcher can't make his decisions for him."
