Captains and leading club officials will get a full run-down on changes for the 2015 Drakes League season on Wednesday night.

All 38 clubs should be represented at the get-together, which will be held at Elland Cricket Club’s Baines Hall and starts at 7.30pm.

A ‘modernisation package’ was agreed for immediate introduction and the new rules, in addition to a bonus-points system, will be in operation from the opening fixtures on Saturday, April 18.

First XI cricket in the Huddersfield District League will have a new look this summer, with fielding circles in place for all matches.

Teams must have four fielders within the circle at all times and can have a maximum of only five fielders on the leg side at all times.

Leg-side wides have been introduced, where any delivery down the leg side will be called a wide – similar to One Day International rules – and bowlers will be restricted to a maximum of 15 overs in any match.

Those overs will be reduced in rain-affected matches, for which a new set of regulations have been drawn up, with recalculations of targets at each separate rain break.

Matches will start earlier this summer and clubs will have three hours and 10 minutes in which to complete their 50 overs.

Clubs will be fined for any part or full overs not completed in that time.

Meanwhile, two DBS meetings have been organised by the Drakes League so that people can complete what used to be the old CRB checks and complete the paperwork.

The first will be supervised by Phil Senior at Cumberworth CC on Friday, April 10 and the second will be overseen by Roger Peaker at Broad Oak CC on Friday, April 17. Both run from 7.30 to 8.30.
