Hoylandswaine go hunting a fourth successive victory in the Drakes Huddersfield League’s T20 Trophy when the competition kicks off on Tuesday.

Now sponsored by Total Indoor Cricket Solutions, Swaine have won a hat trick of titles in the big bash event and will be among the favourites again.

That’s especially as they have Australian talent Michael Cranmer back on song to supplement already powerful batting and bowling departments featuring the likes of Alex Morris, Gharib Nawaz, SP Singh, Max Joice, Ryan Robinson, Ben Potter, Iain Wardlaw, Javed Iqbal and new arrival Murtaza Hussain.

Hoylandswaine are in Group 4 and launch their campaign on Tuesday (6.30) at Moorlands, who have joined them in the semi-finals of the Heavy Woollen Cup.

There will be a cracking tie in Group 3, when Armitage Bridge play host to Broad Oak, while in Group 2, the clash between Scholes and Shepley at Chapelgate should be well worth watching.

Broad Oak have the league’s leading run-scorer in Kiwi Henry Cooper, while Armitage Bridge have followed up promotion with a strong start to the Premiership campaign, led by Kiwi Jaycob Curtling.

Shepley’s Australian leading run-scorer Daniel Anderson, who has 407 runs at 45.22, will have his sights set on the small Scholes boundaries, but the home side have all-round strength in the likes of Tom Brook, Kiwi Tom MacRury and Tom Chadwick and they are fresh from chasing 298 against Townville in the Heavy Woollen Cup.
