FC Halifax Town boss Neil Aspin says the fans have a crucial role to play in tomorrow’s FA Trophy tie against West Yorkshire rivals Guiseley at The Shay.

Aspin has a string of injury concerns going into one of 32 first-round proper ties, with his defence particularly affected.

Marc Roberts, Danny Lowe and Ryan Toulson are all struggling, along with strike star Lee Gregory and winger Adam Smith.

At least Aspin can call on new Burnley loanee Tom Anderson, whose move was sealed yesterday, while fellow defender Simon Ainge is back after a ban.

“Now is the time when the fans have to get behind the team, because they need some help,” said Aspin.

“We’re in a difficult period where I can’t get out what I’d say is my strongest side and we need to fight and scrap and to have everybody pulling in the right direction.”
