AFC Emley got their Toolstation Northern Counties East League First Division campaign up and running with a thumping 5-1 win over Teversal.

Captain Kieran Ryan scored twice in the Fantastic Media Welfare Ground clash.

Also on target were Tom Brennan, Jordan Townend and Ashley Flynn.

Ryan and defender Brennan, with a powerful header, netted before Khyle Sargent pulled one back for Teversal just before the break.

Emley were totally in control in the second half, and Ryan and Townend counted before substitute Flynn rounded things off in the 90th minute.

It was a positive response to successive defeats for the Huddersfield side in front of a 156-strong crowd.

After losing 1-0 in their league opener at Penistone Church, Emley were knocked out of the FA Cup at the preliminary-round stage at Maine Road, who won 3-2.

Darren Hepworth’s outfit are next in action at home to Pontefract Collieries on Wednesday.
