Black Bull clinched the Get Smart Group Championship Shield when beating Inter Athletic 5-0 at Golcar.

It was a tentative first half with Bull keeper Ben Chard making some fine saves when called upon.

However, the real turning point was when Inter had a player sent off late in the first half for blocking a goalbound shot with an arm, and Bull scored from the resulting penalty.

Bull eventually ground down resolute 10-man Inter in the second half to secure the trophy.

Bull’s scorers were Sykes (S) (2), Hill, Ingham (D) and Lockwood.

Joint second-placed Queen are finishing the season strongly, as illustrated in their 3-1 win over Wellington A last Sunday, when Fogarthy bagged two and Thapa the other, with Jamie Jobarteh on target for Welly.

Both sides had weakened sides, but Queen deserved their victory.

On Wednesday, Dalton thrashed lowly Wellington B 13-1 at Standiforth Rec.

Afsar scored Welly B’s only goal.

The hosts were too strong for their opponents and found themselves 6-1 up at the break with goals from Ryan Gledhill, Josh Fiddes, Nathan Large, Luke Haigh and a couple from Jamie Hartley.

In the second half Dalton kept up the pressure and there were further goals from JP Flynn, Gledhill, Fiddes and a couple more for Hartley.

Connor Kaye and Jamie Taylor also scored, with their first ever goals for the club.

If Dalton win their final game tomorrow, against Walkers Hounds, they will secure second spot with 38 points.

If Dalton fail to win and Wellington A gain full points in their remaining three games, Welly A will take second spot with 37 points.
