Manager Charlie Tolley says his Brighouse Town development side are the underdogs going into Thursday’s Halifax FA Cup final against Ovenden West Riding at The Shay (7.00).
It’s the first of two showpiece games in a week for Town, who take on Colne in the Galaxy Lancashire League Cup final at Ashton United on Sunday (1.30).
Ovenden, of the West Riding County Amateur League, have the edge in terms of experience.
In addition, cup rules prevent the use of five players who have represented Brighouse’s first team in recent weeks.
But Tolley insisted: “The 16 who have been selected to play are all equally as good footballers as those who are ruled out.
“The club has full confidence in their abilities to compete and create an upset.”
Brighouse finished second to AFC Emley in the Lancashire League East Division.
And Tolley added: “The targets set back in August last year were to reach a cup final, win the league and to get two players playing regularly in the first team.
“We have reached two cup finals, finished second in the league and have had five players playing a significant number of games in the first team.
Entry to The Shay is £3 and £1 concessions.
