Brighouse Town boss Paul Quinn is looking forward to a home FA Cup clash with Ashton United, once managed by his father Gerry.

The first round qualifying tie will be on Saturday week, September 13.

Brighouse, of the Evo-Stik Northern Premier League First Division North, progressed with a 3-0 win at West Didsbury & Chorlton.

Ernest Boafo, Tom Matthews and Ryan Hall, with a penalty, were the players on target.

Ashton, of the Evo-Stik Premier Division, don’t enter the cup until the first round qualifying.

Their squad includes former Huddersfield Town defender Greg Pearson.

Gerry Quinn managed Ashton between 1999 and 2004, leading them to promotions to the Northern Premier League top flight, then to the Conference North.

Brighouse, freshly promoted to the Northern Premier, are eighth in Division I North after four games.

They go to Kendal Town on Saturday and host Spennymoor Town the following Tuesday, September 9.

They reached the FA Cup second round qualifying last season, losing 1-0 at former Football League club Stockport County.
