There was a derby disappointment for Town Ladies Reserves as they went down 2-1 at home to Leeds United Reserves.

Leeds went ahead with a first half penalty and extended their lead in the second half with a header.

Second half substitute Debbie Hastings pulled a goal back for Town with 20 minutes remaining, but the home side couldn’t find an equaliser – Laura Porritt was named player of the match.

On Sunday the second team travel to Bradford City WFC Reserves (2.00).

Town’s Under 16 side had no game but are at home to Sheffield United Junior Blades at Shelley FC on Saturday (10.30).

Town’s Under 14 side enjoyed a 6-3 win at Millmoor Juniors and took the lead as early as the fourth minute when Laura Walker and Tara Duce combined for Walker to score.

Two minutes later and the same duo fashioned another chance, but Faye Allen’s shot was well held by the keeper.

Town continued to push and were rewarded when Lauren Bullock fed Ella Harris who ran from the halfway and finished well.

Harris extended the lead when her run into the box was unfairly blocked by a Millmoor defender and she scored the resulting penalty.

The visitors were four up at half-time as Duce managed to get in a shot which the home keeper could only palm into the net.

Millmoor came out in the second half much improved and they grabbed a goal back, but Town’s defence held firm for the next 20 minutes and a break led to Eleanor Smith’s ball into the box being bundled into the net by Harris to complete her hat trick.

The home team reduced the deficit to 5-3, but Town had the final say when Jodie Lodge beat two players to score her first goal for Town and the 350th in league and cup since the team started two and a half years ago.

On Saturday the Under 14 side are at home (Grange Moor) to Dearne and District (10.30).

The Under 12 side edged a tight clash with Shaw Lane Aquaforce 1-0.

The pitch was heavy after the morning rain and it was never going to be a game of passing football.

Both teams struggled to take control of the midfield and the first half was evenly matched with Town’s player of the match Meg Howarth pulling off one magnificent save after 15 minutes when she dived low to her right to tip a goalbound shot round the post.

In the 28th minute some good work from Molly Ellis sent Rebecca Morris clear but her shot went just wide of the left hand post, and with five minutes of the half remaining Macy Ellis shot just wide.

Shaw Lane started the second half brightly and were unlucky when a strong shot rebounded off Town’s post.

Town dominated possession for periods without being able to find a finish, with many shots being sent wide of the target.

With only five minutes remaining Macy Ellis burst into the Shaw Lane box, only to be clipped from behind as she shot.

The resulting penalty was taken but had to be retaken due to the referee not having blown her whistle, but the second attempt was calmly placed into the bottom right hand corner of the net by Olivia Burgin.

Town survived a late attack from Shaw Lane and managed to hang on for the win.

The Under 12 side are at home (Grange Moor) to Barnsley on Saturday (10.30).
