Emily Heckler hailed her Huddersfield Town Ladies teammates as she set her sights on another goal haul in Sunday’s FA Women’s Premier League Northern Division match at Stoke City (2.00).

The 26-year-old former Doncaster Belles striker has notched 11 times in the club’s three matches so far this season.

Her haul includes a hat trick in the opening-day 3-3 draw with Stoke at Storthes Hall Park.

Manager Glenn Preston said: “Emily had a really good pre-season, upped her fitness and has got back to her best.

“There’s a bit of fluidity about the team, Emily creates space for others and that means we have a variety of options about the way we play.”

Heckler herself said: “We’ve had such a good influx of midfielders this year, they push forward and play with perfection. To have them behind me has helped me get through on goal.

“I enjoy being a striker and being able to concentrate on finishing the chances off”.

Town are fourth in an early table topped by Newcastle United, and like Stoke, have four points from their two league games (they beat Blackpool Wren Rovers in the League Cup).

The development team begin their FAWPL Reserves Northern Division campaign away to Stockport County on Saturday.

Town’s junior sides kick-off in the Sheffield & Hallamshire Girls’ League on Saturday.

The Under 16s are at Dronfield Town (11.00) and the 14s at Whiston Wildcats (11.00).

The new Under 12 team host Sheffield United Community Ladies at Storthes Hall Park (10.30).
