Get Smart Group Cup holders Wellington A comfortably beat Queen 4-0 in the first round and gained revenge for their 8-5 league reversal last month.

In the opening half Wellington dominated proceedings, although Queen did squeeze through the home side’s defence early on, only for Daniel Naidole to shoot narrowly wide.

On 13 minutes Welly’s Paul Pyke was well placed but fired the ball over the bar and on 24 minutes his colleague Adam Hill tumbled in the box under a challenge, but play was waved on and he laid the ball on to Pyke whose shot smacked against a post.

A minute later Pyke weaved his way past three Queen defenders, but Queen’s man-of-the-match keeper Luke Haigh was equal to his shot, and on 35 minutes Haigh was on call again as Abdulla Aka had a 20-yard goalbound shot turned away.

Wellington’s pressure paid off when Pyke opening the scoring with a 20 yard shot through a crowded area.

Wellington’s Marlon Adams then had three great chances in a short spell, firstly he strolled through the Queen rearguard only to be foiled by another fine save from Haigh, then he saw his close range header flash narrowly wide and another close range attempt was easily saved, after Matt Mulvehill executed a brilliant back-heel to set up the striker.

Right on half-time a Graham McLachlan speculative overhead shot was saved by Haigh.

In the second half Queen threatened with Tom Hampshire racing down the wing and cut in, but his shot was well blocked by Wellington keeper Ashley Whitaker.

Wellington soon regained control and after 10 minutes Adam Hill’s overhead shot was parried by Haigh but the loose ball was then slammed home by the Wellington player.

Hill then struck his second and Wellington’s third with a fierce shot, after his first attempt was well saved by Haigh.

Queen’s Andy Hunt was sent off two minutes later when he brought down Hill just outside the penalty area and Pyke grabbed his second when Hill’s initial shot was parried by Haigh.

Wellington A now play Mooreside Colts in a Get Smart Group Cup semi-final, while Queen will play Walkers Hounds in a Lockwood Taxis cup semi-final.

Dalton beat Walkers Hounds 4-1 at Standiforth and will now face Linthwaite for the chance to take on Meltham Victoria in the Get Smart Group Cup’s last four.

Courtney Allert opened the scoring for Dalton after only a couple of minutes, but there was controversy as in the build up to the goal the ball seemed to go out of play for a throw-in, but the linesman failed to raise his flag in favour of Walkers.

Dalton pushed on and scored a second through Jamie Hartley, and Dalton should have increased their lead before the interval, but were guilty of missing simple chances, and Walkers pulled one back on the stroke of half time through Edward Wilson.

In the second half Walkers had the better of the early play, but a second from Allert against the run of play turned the game.

Bradley Ramsden-Reilly scored a fourth from close range to secure the win for Dalton.

Meltham Victoria defeated Golcar Conservative 3-1 at Dryclough Rec.

Meltham went 1-0 up in first half with a goal from Craig Vant, but Golcar equalised just before half-time.

In the second half Carl Cronie, Meltham’s assistant manager, brought Michael Dolan on and he scored Victoria’s second goal – Dolan then assisted Vant for the third.

Golcar Conservative will play Field Head or Wellington B in a Lockwood Taxis Cup semi-final proper.

Mooreside Colts beat Wellington B 3-0 at Reinwood Rec on a pitch was reportedly almost unplayable.

James Totty got through early on and calmly slotted home from outside the box to pu the Colts ahead.

Alex Dunn then took on the keeper, only to fall, and Totty ran onto the loose ball and stroked it home.

Lewis Crick also notched, from a strike just inside the box, deflected into the net by a Wellington player.
