Honley and Hepworth junior footballers are to compete in Holland this Easter.

Honley Under 15s met up at the village cricket club to finalise details for their departure on Friday.

They will have a four-day stay organised by Euroworld Sports Ltd, who organise tours and tournaments at home and abroad.

Honley will play on Saturday at Zaandvoort FC and, the following day, at HFC Haarlem.

The club have been fundraising with the help of Andrea Brook and Gaynor Kitson, with parents’ contributions being backed up by sponsorship for tracksuits and shirts from Longwood Engineering’s Alan Taylor and Mallinson’s Recycling Ltd, through Steve Morris.

Club chairman Andrew Mansel and manager Jamie Taylor said the Honley boys are looking forward to the trip and playing against Dutch opposition.

Hepworth Under 13s leave next Tuesday for a three-day tour and met at Upperthong Cricket Club to finalise their plans.

Peter Kenyon of Euroworld Sports Ltd told parents and players about the trip, for which they fly out from Leeds/Bradford airport.

They will visit the Ajax Stadium and play two friendlies against VV Wodbrugge and VV Stormvogels.

Parents and players have been fund-raising all year.
