Huddersfield YMCA fought back from a two-goal half-time deficit to seal a Northern Under 19 Alliance West Division point at home to Field.

Having had a goal disallowed for offside after five minutes, the Bradford team went ahead on 33 when a cross, delivered on the floor from the left, was steered home from close range.

YM hit back by forcing a corner from which George Hampshire had a good header saved.

With the game opening up. YM keeper Jamie Burnand made a good stop, then palmed away a tricky cross.

Field started to get the upper hand and two minutes before the break, increased their lead with a fine solo strike.

YM continued to try and play football out from defence, but their tendency to lose the ball in midfield caused problems of their own making.

The home side got back into the game as they counter-attacked from a Field corner.

Gem Brogan-Ellis picked the ball up on the edge of his own penalty area and ran into the Field half before playing in twin brother Jay, who chipped over the advancing keeper.

Now YM were the dominant side and good work in midfield saw Alex Tattersley sweep the play from the left to Matty Rowles, whose cross from the right shaved Brad Hall’s head to go just wide.

Then a beautiful 50-yard pass from Ryan Wadsworth found Jay Brogan-Ellis, who ran onto the ball down the left but fired into the side-netting.

In another strong run, Wadsworth beat a number of players before being pulled back to earn a free-kick which he thumped home for the equaliser.

The home side pressed for the winner but had to make do with a draw.

YM go to Thackley on Wednesday (7.45).
