Wellington Westgate and Walkers Hounds have joined Linthwaite by securing their place in the County FA Sunday Trophy quarter-finals after finally being able to play after the bad weather and a string of postponements.

Whitkirk Wanderers of the Leeds Combination League were put away by holders Wellington with an emphatic 10-2 scoreline, while Walkers Hounds came from thee goals down to beat Pontefract outfit Nevi Leap 5-3.

Wellington booked their place in the last eight for the third season in a row to continue their excellent form in the competition.

Wellington took the lead after 25 minutes courtesy of a Anthony Haigh strike, while Ashley Flynn and Jamie Jobareth also netted to take Wellington into the break 3-0 up.

The home side wasted no time in finding the fourth goal as Jobareth scored his second goal of the game straight after the second half kick off.

Haigh and Flynn joined Jobarteh in doubling their tallies as both of their goals took Wellingtons lead to 6-0

Whitkirk responded with a goal from Jordan Booth but Jobareth scored two more goals to take him to four.

A goalkeeping mistake allowed Whitkirk to score their final goal of the game but Westgate replied again with Flynn scoring to secure his hat trick.

Lee Bradshaw wrapped the game up for Wellington with a chip over the keeper – a great performance from Josh Ingham earned him the man of the match award.

Walkers Hounds didn’t have it quite so easy as they had to recover from a three goal deficit.

Hounds were made to pay for a slow and sluggish start as they conceded three goals courtesy of the Nevi Leap striker.

An inspirational substitution was made by Hounds on the half hour mark when Eddie Wilson joined the fray and this proved to be the turning point of the game.

Nevi collapsed in the last 15 minutes and a manic five goal spree from Hounds turned the tie on its head.

Brighton Mugadza pulled one back for Hounds on the 75th minute with a 30 yard, goal of the season contender.

Then a 25 yard free kick from Max Leonard and a Connor Sykes shot from the edge of the box drew Hounds level.

Mugadza then secured his brace to give Hounds the lead for the first time.

Man of the Match Nicky Shaw then completed the amazing turn around to make it 5-3 and book their place in the final eight.
