Lepton Highlanders Football Club have been awarded status as a Community Club.

After a season of hard work on the pitch, the RCD Huddersfield Junior League club have been working hard off the pitch to get their club up to the required standard – and the work has paid off as the Highlanders have been successful in their application.

“The journey started with a simple idea being put forward in a monthly meeting and it quickly gathered pace,” said club development officer Alasdair McKenzie.

“When we started researching what was involved it became clear that the club was already well on its way to meeting the criteria with how it was already organised.”

The Community Club Status is the highest level of Chartered Standard Award and acknowledges that the club is run to a very high standard and has a clear development plan for the players, coaches and facilities.

The award was handed over to McKenzie and the chairman Kyle Smalley at the club’s Summer Tournament.
