Liversedge's hopes of silverware this season were crushed 3-1 in the semi-finals by YMCA, who still have their eyes on the Under 16 title as well as the Cup.

Liversedge got off to a good start with Massimo Bianco and Andy Francis causing problems for the YMCA defence and, when a Liam Dewing cross fell to Joe Etherington, the striker made no mistake from 12 yards to give Liversedge the lead after 10 minutes.

Visitors YMCA had been slow to get moving, but the setback fired them into action.

Mitchell Cummings’ cross found Ben Birkhead, whose volley skimmed the top of the bar from eight yards but, despite stalwart defending from Jacob Burnley, William Gibson and Matthew Atkinson, they were unable to stop Tom Calvert’s close-range effort when it was deflected over keeper Jack Trevitt into the roof of the net (1-1).

YMCA doubled their advantage minutes later when Liversedge were unable to clear a loose ball in the six-yard box and Calvert pounced to give YMCA the lead (1-2).

Elliot Hinchliffe, Bianco and Sam Trevitt worked hard to try to get Liversedge back in the game, but after a couple of Hinchliffe free kicks were well saved by Jake Moor, Liversedge’s chances began to fade.

A Sibu Moyo corner led to YMCA’s third goal when Joe Etherington rose to head the ball into the top corner (1-3).

Liversedge continued to try to get back into the game but the excellent defending of George Doyle and Jay Littlewood denied them any space.

Liam Dewing carved out a late opening for Tom Rowson that would have brought about a frantic last 10 minutes, but keeper Jake Moor made a fine save to deny the Liversedge forward.

The Cup final now sets YMCA against Westwood, who defeated Uppermill 6-4 after extra-time in the other semi-final.

Honley made it to the final of the Under 13 Cup with victory over Bramley Phoenix but, with no goals scored in the first half, no-one could have expected a 10-goal second-half extravaganza.

Bramley’s Cup journey had raised a few eyebrows as the Fifth Division side made their way into the semi-finals, and their hopes of an upset continued when Kayden Griffiths gave them the lead early in the second half. (1-0)

First Division Honley continued to struggle to find their form but when Vaughan Hirst struck the equaliser (1-1), Bramley’s resistance folded.

Further goals from Oliver Blakey, Owen Kenworthy, Harrison Booth, Mason Moor and a Matthew Foster hat trick gave Honley a 7-1 lead and, although Brad Broadbent grabbed a late consolation, Bramley’s challenge was over with an 8-2 scoreline against.

Honley now face a Cup final meeting with title-chasing Westend, whose game with Ossett Town remained on a knife edge right up until the last kick of the game.

With the sides locked at 1-1 after extra time, Westend finally settled the issue, winning 5-4 on penalties.

In the Under 14 Trophy semi-finals, a double from Jaffry and one from Metcalfe gave Brighouse a narrow victory over Dewsbury Rangers, who kept the game close with replies from Topping and Hirst.

Brighouse now meet Upperthong in the final. Upperthong secured a 2-1 win over Honley B to seal their place.
